EDITORIAL No.3

Put yourself on the Map –literally-.

The upcoming 5th Encuentro on Border Environment will kick off, next May 15th, with the Border Environmental Bazaar, a unique event that will feature an exhibit of a series of Maps of environmental action throught the region, and also a Poster Session. Together, they are intended to provide the border environmental movement with the opportunity of showing the community the scope and diversity of efforts carried out by civil society in order to protect the border environment.

The Maps will be murals representing the U.S./Mexico border and will display the information you send us about your organizations and projects, as well as your transborder collaborations. The Poster Session will showcase visual representations designed creatively by you, to share information about the nature of your different projects and/or organizations with your peers.

If you have already registered, we encourage you to fill out the questionnaire we have sent you, regarding the Map – which you can also find in our web page- and send it back to us. This way, we can proceed and make room on the map for you, and show the community exactly where you stand!

We also urge you to prepare your poster in order to allow others to appreciate your efforts and learn about your work. Guidelines for creating your poster have been sent out to you, but can also be found on our web page for your convenience.

These are valuable contributions with which you can empower others duting the 5th Encuentro, and we are counting on them to complete our understanding of the hand print being left by the growing social capital which is responding to environmental challenges along the U.S./Mexico border.

If you still have not registered or requested a fellowship, please do so now because we’re having a terrific response and pretty soon there’ll be no room for all wishing to attend.

Sincerely,

Executive Committee
5th Meeting on Border Environment
