PRE-ENCUENTROS

Pre-Encuentros (or regional meetings held in preparation for the V Encuentro) was an idea generated as feedback by the border NGOs that gathered for the IV Encuentro in 2003. The main goals of these regional gatherings were: a) To follow-up on the discussions on border environmental affaires, b) Provide further analysis and facilitate the creation of regional liaisons, and c) Facilitate the participation of a larger number of grass roots organizations in their own region.

These meetings were designed and organized by environmental activists to respond to environmental problems, as well as to address the need for the creations of local capacities, and to make sure they had a say and received proper attention during the next V Encuentro.

Expected Outcomes:

      1. To obtain a general idea of the local environmental problems
      2. To make a Directory of local grass roots organizations
      3. To establish alliances for future coordinated actions
